AB de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 79 to take RCB to the IPL final
AB ki baar De Villiers Sarkar read the Chinnaswamy scoreboard, as the South African swept Shadab Jakati for a big six in the 16th over.
If Kohli's form carried RCB into the knock-out stage, de Villiers stepped-up to tame the Gujarat Lions and carry his team into the IPL final.
After the law of averages finally caught up with Kohli - out for a second-ball duck - de Villiers hit an unbeaten 79 to take RCB home by four wickets with 10 balls to spare.
Gujarat Lions will now play the winner of the Eliminator between KKR and SRH in the Capital on May 27, as their hope of reaching the final in their first year as a team remains very much alive.
RCB got their game off to the perfect start when, after winning the toss and sending the Lions into bat, left-arm spinner Abdulla sent the fearless Brendon McCullum (1) and Aaron Finch (4) back to the pavilion as the Gujarat Lions score read a miserly 6/2.
Shane Watson then had Raina pulling a short ball straight to Sreenath Arvind at short fine-leg.
With the scoreboard at 9/3 Dwayne Smith decided to take the attack to the opposition.
With Dinesh Karthik for company, he smashed loose balls to the boundary as the Lions reached 58/3 after 10 overs.
Just when it seemed as if the Lions were back in the game, Karthik (26) got out trying to play a cheeky scoop off English seamer Chris Jordan.
Ravindra Jadeja (3) also failed to provide much support to Smith, but there was no stopping the West Indian as he kept clearing the boundary with ease.
In fact, the way Smith kept hitting the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Abdulla, it almost looked like he was batting on a different wicket.
But his innings came to an end on 73 as a full ball from the leg-spinner Chahal saw Smith failing to clear a waiting Kohli at long-on.
AB de Villiers took up the challenge to fire RCB into the final after Kohli went for a two-ball duck
Chasing Gujarat's 159 was never going to be easy even after RCB won the toss and sent them in on a track that looked to give the bowlers the edge.
And with medium pace sensation Dhawal Kulkarni running through the top order, it became all the more difficult for RCB.
Kulkarni first dismissed Kohli (0), and then sent Gayle (9), K.L.

Rahul (0) and Sachin Baby (0) packing as Gujarat dominated.
But AB found an able ally in Iqbal Abdulla, who backed his bowling performance with a cool knock of 33 to bring the team home.
Humans are not capable of the shots that AB de Villiers is playing.

AB de Villiers is mobbed by his teammates after hitting RCB into the IPL final in the first Eliminator

Gambhir in the battle of the free-scoring captains as Sunrisers and Knight Riders clash

By Avishek Roy
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping that they haven't peaked too early when they clash with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL Eliminator on Wednesday.
SRH skipper David Warner has scored 658 runs already in the competition, and after losing the first two matches his runs took SRH to the top of the table for a significant part of the season.
They then lost their last two league matches, including a loss to KKR which paved the latter's way to the playoffs.
David Warner (left) and Gautam Gambhir (right) have been in great form for their teams.

Warner has scored 658 runs already in the competition while Gambhir is on 473.
KKR, on the other hand, are known to raise their level in big matches having twice won the trophy under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, who is once again hitting form at the right time, leading their run-scorers with 473.
The Delhi boy knows the ground and the conditions here like the back of his hand, and at Gambhir's disposal is a well-balanced KKR team that ticks all the boxes.
Runs have flowed from the bats of the skipper, Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan, who is enjoying a purple patch.
The combination of Gambhir and Uthappa at the top has laid a solid foundation for the team, while the middle order has the ability to graft when the going gets tough, and use the long handle when runs are needed.
But the team's key link in batting and bowling - Andre Russell - has missed two matches because of a hamstring injury and it remains to be seen whether he is able to play.
The West Indian, who has claimed 15 wickets in 12 matches, sat out of the practice session on Tuesday.
The pace duo of Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav have not yet performed constantly, but both have the ability to intimidate the opposition on their day.
In Russell's absence, Gambhir would depend on his slower bowlers to do the job for him as the Feroz Shah Kotla track has been on the slower side recently.

SRH owe much to captain Warner leading from the front. But besides Warner and Shikhar Dhawan, the batting has lacked teeth.
Warner is the second top-scorer in the event with 658 runs with seven half-centuries.

Dhawan has 463 runs from 14 matches, and https://flip.it/8aafgs together they can destroy any attack.
But the likes of Kane Williamson, Moises Henriques, Eoin Morgan, and Yuvraj Singh have so far been inconsistent.
It is the bowling of SRH that has wreaked havoc.

Bangladeshi left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman (16 wickets) and the ever-improving Bhuvneshwar Kumar (18 wickets) have forged a deadly partnership.
However, an injury to left-arm medium pacer Ashish Nehra has dealt a blow to the SRH attack.
